Nobody Waits for an Organ
Regardless of race, financial ability, social status, or geographical location.
MDF works with experts in the fields of medicine, science, engineering, and public health to improve the allogeneic transplant processes so everyone in need of an organ transplant has one. This is a multifaceted challenge, but
we are determined.
Our effort with allografts starts with the University of Maryland. MDF is collaborating with the UMD School of Public Health, Clark School of Engineering, and School of Medicine. Working with experts across multiple disciplines enables us to see and address the challenges, including, but not limited to, how to:
- * Increase public understanding
- * Attract more donors
- * Test organs more effectively
- * Evaluate and distribute organs equally;
- * Store organs successfully
- * Transport organs efficiently
- * Increase the number of centers capable of providing skilled transplant surgeons
